With a background in sports coaching and a keen interest in golfing and personal training, Anthony always had a passion for inspiring people to better their physical as well as mental strength. According to him, there is no better platform than BODYTEC to do this!
Years of competing in contact sports such as rugby and soccer resulted in numerous injuries and a year and a half of rehabilitation on his knee. After returning, he found he lacked confidence in a contact sport and took up golfing socially. Being the sportsman he is, after three years, he is playing off a 5 handicap and absolutely loves the golfing life!
Anthony enjoys the social side of golfing and chasing that elusive “hole in one.” He is constantly pushing to improve on his handicap and beat his last score. Golf offers a wide range of mental and physical benefits - it keeps the mind alert and provides vital human contact. A walk in the fresh air does wonders for endorphin and serotonin levels, which helps improve one’s mood and can reduce stress and anxiety. A round of golf can be a great addition to one’s physical fitness programme, for players of every age and both sexes. Because Golf is a low impact sport, joints are not subjected to the stresses and strains of more energetic sports like tennis and running.
Anthony focuses on maintaining his flexibility and core strength. Flexibility in Golf allows for full range of motion, enabling maximum potential in strength and power in motion.
His EMS training once a week at BODYTEC helps him achieve this. A 2017 study found that posture and core muscle strength significantly improved after 8 weeks of EMS training.
Anthony believes that LOTS of practice is key in Golf, and even if you think you know what you’re doing, practice more. There will be challenges but focus on the journey. Ben Hogan, who is fourth in the world by total men's major Golf championships won, said, “I never played a round of Golf where I didn’t learn something new about the game”.
Anthony is the owner of BODYTEC Northcliff.
BODYTEC® uses electro stimulation to achieve stronger and more intense muscle contractions than a voluntary exertion can achieve alone.
Your personal trainer can control each muscle group by adjusting the training intensity of the various muscle groups on the EMS device according to your individual goals.
During EMS training, 90% of muscles are activated simultaneously with each contraction.
